What to Expect

During surgery, your pet is placed under general anesthesia with oxygen and anesthetic gas delivered through a breathing tube. An intravenous (IV) catheter administers fluids, and we use advanced monitoring equipment to track vital signs, including heart rate, oxygen levels, and blood pressure. Our trained veterinary team closely oversees the entire process, from preparation to recovery.

We provide a range of surgical procedures, including:

• Emergency Surgery – Urgent procedures such as foreign object obstruction removal, emergency C-sections, and trauma-related injury repair.
• Soft Tissue Surgery  – Procedures such as tumor removals, abdominal surgeries, and spay & neuter (link to new spay & neuter page).
• Orthopedic Surgery  – Specialized care for fractures, joint conditions, and ligament repairs.
  • Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) – Dr. Kuhn performs this advanced procedure for cruciate ligament injuries. We are one of the only facilities in Alaska offering TPLO, saving pet owners from out-of-state travel.
• Dental Surgery – Extractions and advanced oral care for pets with severe dental disease.
